Eye masks – what are they? Yes, most of us can’t imagine our Sunday pamper sesh without a good old face mask, but we often tend to miss out the ultra-delicate skin around our eyes.
Not only is the skin here much thinner than it is everywhere else, but it contains fewer oil glands and therefore less natural moisture – cue fine lines, creases, puffiness and dark circles. Basically, all the bad things.
The solution? Kicking back with an under eye mask. Unlike heavy eye creams, eye masks harness lightweight but potent serums packed with ultra-cooling, skin-plumping and dark circle-busting ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid and ceramides to leave you bright-eyed and revived.
It might seem like an extra step you don’t have time for, but under eye masks are less fiddly and drippy than face masks and almost too simple to whack on when you’re Netflixing, cooking, or even sleeping. Celebrity and editorial make-up artist Katie Jane Hughes suggests wearing them while you do your make-up, adding that ‘any eye make-up that falls will get caught on the pads and won’t disturb the skin that’s getting lovely and hydrated underneath.’ Very clever.
