It’s monsoon time and we all crave pakodas and cutlets with chai. So, let’s go back to the basics and prepare delicious Bread Cutlets. These amazing cutlets are prepared from bread mixed with a lot of veggies and spices to add more flavor. If you want these cutlets to be on the healthier side, you can pan-fry or bake them. Deep-frying the cutlets gives it a nice crispy brown layer which just goes well with mint chutney or a tomato sauce. You can add in more veggies if you want to make it appetizing. Ingredients of Bread Cutlet – 10 servings
- 4 slices bread- white
- 1/2 cup boiled corn
- 2 chopped green chilli
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- gm black pepper
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 chopped capsicum (green pepper)
- 2 boiled,mashed potato
- 1/2 medium chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 tablespoon corn flour
- gm salt
- 1 handful chopped coriander leaves
How to make Bread Cutlet
Step 1 Crumble the bread
First, cut the sides of the white bread (the sides here are the brown sides) and then crumble them.
Step 2 Combine the ingredients
In a bowl, add the crumbled bread slices, capsicum, onion, potatoes, corn, green chili, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, chaat masala, black pepper, salt, and ginger paste. Mix to combine everything well.
Step 3 Form cutlets
Now, add cornflour, lemon juice, and coriander leaves. Mix everything well and form a dough from the batter. If there’s too much moisture, add in more bread crumbs. Grease your hands with some oil and start forming round-shaped cutlets from them.
Step 4 Fry the cutlets
In a kadhai, heat oil and then start adding cutlets slowly one by one. Deep-fry the cutlets until they turn golden brown in color.
Step 5 Your Bread cutlets are ready to serve
Your Bread cutlets are ready. Serve it with tomato sauce or mint chutney.
